Manage and secure your network with Edimax Network Access Control Technology

2007-01-01

Edimax provides complete control over wired or wireless networks with the AC-M1000 and AC-M3000

January 01, 2007 - Edimax Technology (TSEC: 3047), presents its AC-M1000/3000, a full-featured network access controller that provides mobility, centralized control and advanced security for wired and wireless networking environments. The AC-M1000/3000 is especially designed for SME businesses and public Wi-Fi deployment, such as schools, hotels, hospitals and airports. The Network Access Control (NAC) System is available in two models; the AC-M1000, which supports up to 50 concurrent users, and the AC-M3000, which supports up to 120 concurrent users. Both devices support up to 2000 guest accounts and feature 2 WAN and 8 LAN connections.

The AC-M1000/3000 can be easily integrated in the existing network and WLAN infrastructure. In addition, it can be deployed as an identity based security gateway to authenticate wired and wireless users, enforce role-based access control policies and prevent unsafe endpoints from accessing the corporate network. Administrators can effectively monitor network access and usage through the user management interface, regardless if the users are employees or guest users. The AC-M1000/3000 additionally supports auditing and accounting management with a billing system by hour or data transmission, and records the history of all guest accounts.

The device features a comprehensive suit of integrated security capabilities, such as client-server IPSec VPN authentication, firewall protection, multiple authentication methods and access levels. In addition, the access controller enables administrators to configure, monitor and upgrade up to 4 manageable access points (AC-M1000) and 12 access points (AC-M3000) from a single, centralized AP management interface (only in combination with the EW-7206APg). The AC-M1000/3000 offers easy and flexible routing which enables administrators to increase availability and aggregate bandwidth between the dual WAN ports. The automatic link-Fail-Over ensures that if one of the ports fail, traffic will automatically be redirected to the remaining active port.

Key features * Features client-server IPSec VPN authentication (with ActiveX component) * Supports single login account roaming among multiple AP's * Offers centralized AP management in combination with the Edimax EW-7206APg (wireless access point) * Supports role-based and policy-based access control * Provides multiple authentication methods * Supports Fail-Over on dual WAN ports * Supports individual bandwidth management per user * Supports recording of network traffic history per user * Offers on-demand guest account management
